Professional Professionals Registration Board - Advancing professional standards through excellence in certification and capacity building
Our Story
PPRB was formally established in 1996 under Section 3 of the Physical Planners Registration Act (PPRA). This legislation mandated the creation of a regulatory body to oversee the profession of physical planning in Kenya.
Following the Act's enactment, the Minister responsible for physical planning appointed the inaugural Board members in 1998. Although the Board was officially constituted in 1998, the first physical planners were admitted in 1999.
The initial registrants were those who were already corporate members of AAK (Town Planners Chapter) when the Registration Act was passed in 1996. A total of 47 individuals registered as the first cohort of professional physical planners in Kenya.
Before establishing its examination processes, the PPRB entrusted the Town Planners Chapter of AAK with the responsibility of administering professional examinations. Since then, the PPRB has independently set and administered professional examinations, resulting in the successful registration of 378 physical planners.
